"Flyn' West": Questions and Answers for act 1 scene 1-2

Why does Frank seem uneasy about his visit to Nicodemus, Kansas?

-        Frank seems uneasy about his visit to Nicodemus because being a “mulato” he thinks he is superb from the rest and feels he has no need in being involved with people not of his kind. Frank comes from a diverse culture, he is half White and half African American. Although Frank resembles his African American side the most through his features he embraces his White culture the most. Furthermore, he is ashamed of the background he carries and feels he has no need in being in a Black suburban community coming from the luxurious cities of Paris. The only reason for his visit would be to inherit Minnies portion of land.
